Bhutan bets organic agriculture is the road to happiness

By Eliza Barclay – The tiny Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan drew international attention a few years back for saying gross national happiness should trump gross domestic product when measuring a nation's progress. If you're going to prioritize happiness, the Bhutanese thinking goes, you'd better include the environment and spiritual and mental well-being in your calculations.

New biopesticides shown to help fight sugarbeet, potato diseases

By Sue Roesler – In a couple of years, producers around the world will have a major new biopesticide technology tool in their disease-fighting toolbox that has been shown in trials over many years to combat some serious diseases of potatoes, sugarbeets and other crops. That bio-control technology is a naturally occurring bacterium called bacillus mycoides isolate J, or more commonly, BmJ.
