Organic and Sustainable Agriculture News
Despite potential roadblocks, GMO labeling set to go into effect on Friday
VTDigger.com - 6/30/2016.
By Mike Polhamus - With Vermont’s GMO labeling law set to go into effect Friday, manufacturers and retailers still don’t know exactly how or whether they will have to comply.
As Historic Vermont Legislation Goes into Effect, Congress May Pull GMO Labels Off of Grocery Shelves
Common Dreams - 6/30/2016.
Statement by Wenonah Hauter, Executive Director, Food & Water Watch - Tomorrow, Vermont’s historic GMO labeling law goes into effect. This is the first law enacted in the U.S. that would provide clear labels identifying food made with genetically engineered ingredients. But this victory may be fleeting. The Senate will vote next week on a federal bill that would nullify Vermont’s law, and other state labeling efforts percolating, thanks to the heavy hand the ag-biotech industry wields over our congressional representatives.
Monsanto Fingerprints Found All Over Attack On Organic Food

By Stacy Malkan - When a reputable-sounding nonprofit organization released a report attacking the organic food industry in April 2014, the group went to great lengths to tout its independence.

By Kristin Streff - Mick Minchow’s tractors are marvels of modern machinery. They have air conditioning, guidance systems, satellite radio and more sensors than he can shake a corn cob at, all kept running by computer systems and software. But there's one thing the Waverly farmer doesn't have: the right to fix his John Deere 8235 R if it goes on the fritz.
