Don’t drink the weed killer: Atrazine taints rural groundwater
Grist - 11/30/2011.
By Tom Laskawy – If you want to understand all that is wrong with our government's environmental safety priorities, you need only look at the sad story of the weed killer atrazine. Despite the fact that study after study has demonstrated its dangers, it remains one of the most commonly used herbicides in the U.S. – to the tune of 76 million pounds a year.
The exoneration of cheese: why it may be good for your heart
The Atlantic - 11/30/2011.
By Beth Fontenot – Take heart, cheese lovers! What was once considered off-limits for heart health may have just found redemption. Patricia Fiorelli, a spokeswoman for the New England Fishery Management Council, said, "There is a lot of speculation that cod populations are dramatically lower than anyone expected."

By Andrew Wetzler – With every passing year the evidence of atrazine's harmful environmental and human health effects grows stronger. Now a new study, summarizing over a decade of research, has further confirmed some truly scary stuff about atrazine, the most commonly detected pesticide contaminant of ground and surface water: atrazine both "demasculinizes" and "feminizes" vertebrate male gonads.
