Join Andy Smith of Smith's Smokehouse and delve into the basics of charcuterie through a series of four workshops. Learn how to create your own charcuterie goods, and potential business, and then dig deep into a variety of curing processes including bacon, bresaola, beef jerky and more! Don't forget to register for this course, we only have 10 spots available. The complete series is $350 for MOFGA members and $400 for non-members. New biopesticides shown to help fight sugarbeet, potato diseases

By Sue Roesler – In a couple of years, producers around the world will have a major new biopesticide technology tool in their disease-fighting toolbox that has been shown in trials over many years to combat some serious diseases of potatoes, sugarbeets and other crops. That bio-control technology is a naturally occurring bacterium called bacillus mycoides isolate J, or more commonly, BmJ.

By Clarke Canfield (AP) – Portland: Maine's wild blueberry growers are expecting their biggest crop in more than a decade. This year's crop is projected to come in between 90 million to 95 million pounds. If the yield reaches 90 million pounds, it would be the largest harvest since 2000, when production reached a record 110 million pounds.
