Organic Orcharding Workshop:
Pruning Fruit Trees

Designed for beginner to intermediate orchardists managing backyard plantings to larger orchards. Learn to prune fruit trees to encourage vigorous growth, heavy fruit set, and quality fruit yield. Scionwood collection and storage will also be covered. Confirmation and directions will be sent a week prior to the start of the workshop. Please keep in mind that pre-registration and payment are required and this course fills up quickly!

Gerber Lil' Crunchies Veggie Dip Toddler Snack Full of Insecticidal GMOs

GMO Free USA sent a package of Gerber Graduates Lil’ Crunchies Veggie Dip Baked Whole Grain Corn Snack to a certified lab to test for the presence of GMO material. All of the corn in the veggie dip was determined to have been genetically engineered to be herbicide tolerant (Roundup Ready), and the corn contained DNA sequences known to be present in Bt insecticide-producing GMO corn.

Herbicide tolerance and insect resistance traits account for almost all of the GM crops grown commercially over the past 20 years. Ten countries account for 98% of the land area in GM crops. Corn, cotton, soy and canola account for 99% of GM acreage worldwide.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer, an arm of the WHO, released the results of its review of five herbicides and pesticides on Friday.
