Woods Walk on Carbon Sequestration

August 16, 2018 – MOFGA Gather & Grow event. 6:00 p.m., Millbrook Farm, 67 Range Road, Cumberland, Maine. The woodlot at Millbrook Farm has supported the family for years with firewood as they grow veggies, raise chickens, and more. With thoughts of climate change in the forefront of their minds when they recently worked with a forester on an updated plan, Denny asked for an analysis of carbon sequestration. Learn the techniques that allow the folks at Millbrook Farm to help combat climate change through improved management of their woodlot on this tour, and consider some techniques for your own woodlot. Donations to support this and other MOFGA programming are accepted at the door. For more information, contact Anna Libby.

Permaculture

August 22, 2018 – MOFGA Farm Training Project, 5 p.m., Schoodic Hollow Farm, 53 Hooper Road, Franklin. Permaculture is a method of landscape design and food production that is based on the principles of ecology and diversity. Come and see an excellent example of how permaculture can help bring vitality back to land, mitigate problematic soils and increase a farm resilience. Potluck to follow.
