Farm & Homestead Day at MOFGA
Saturday, June 17, 2017
This free event features participatory workshops on sustainable living skills. Come dressed for the weather, roll up your sleeves, and dig in!
Workshops to explore …
Gardening skills, Foraging for Food and Natural Medicine, Upcyling, Cooking techniques from Vegan dishes to Popcorn Balls, Fiber Arts from Sheep to Shawl, Scything, and much more!
Admission and parking are FREE and all workshops are led by volunteers. Materials have been donated and you can take home many of your workshop creations. There is nothing to buy … but there are some things you can bring to contribute to the fun!
Please bring a dish to share at our Potluck Picnic Lunch
or ingredients for the Stone Soup we’ll be making on site!
You can also bring plants* to share at our Plant Swap!
All the opportunities to give and take help us move toward a gift economy! Like to mow with scythes? Or want to learn? The day begins at 7 a.m. with team mowing of the Amphitheater. Tea & Crumpets welcome participants at 9am; hourly workshops begin at 9:30am and run until 4:30 p.m. with the noon hour off for a Potluck Picnic Lunch.
* You can share annual or perennial flowers and herbs, veggie seedling, rooted shrubs or cuttings, even extra tools! We do ask that you label your plants and please no invasive species. The plant swap is an all-day learning and sharing opportunity! We share duplicate plants from the MOFGA gardens and hope you will bring us other varieties to expand the onsite collection. Anyone can take plants home! We also gratefully accept monetary donations with which we purchase new plant varieties.
