The National Organic Program (NOP)
On this website the NOP rule and the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substance for organic production and handling operations can be found . The NOP offers guidance documents for processors. Also, the " USDA Organic" logo can be downloaded from this site.
Electronic USDA National Organic Program Final Rule including The National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances This link provides electronic access to the appendix of the practice manual.
The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI)
The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) reviews products intended for use in certified organic production, handling, and processing. It lists products that comply with the NOP rule.
The Organic Trade Association (OTA)
Organic Trade Association (OTA) is a membership-based business association that focuses on the organic business community in North America. OTA's mission is to promote and protect the growth of organic trade to benefit the environment, farmers, the public and the economy. The OTA may be useful in sourcing organic ingredients.
