  • The National Organic Program (NOP)
    This is the official website of the USDA National Organic program. Included on this website are the NOP regulations (standards) and the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances that may or may not be used in organic production and handling operations.
  • Electronic USDA National Organic Program Final Rule including The National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances This link provides electronic access to the appendix of the practice manual. This is a searchable version of the USDA NOP rule.
  • National Sustainable Agriculture Information Service(ATTRA)
    The National sustainable Agriculture information Service provides information and other technical assistance to farmers, ranchers, Extension agents, educators, and others involved in sustainable agriculture in the United States. Especially useful are the Organic Field Crops Documentation Forms. Farmers can use these to document practices, inputs and activities to demonstrate compliance with regulations or to assist in other aspects of farm recordkeeping. These are not required forms but are intended to give growers a convenient and organized way to document their farming.
  • Northeast Organic Dairy Producers Alliance (NODPA)
    The Northeast Organic Dairy Producers Alliance (NODPA) is a resource for dairy farmers. It contains organic dairy news, events,classifieds and organic grazing, soil and cow health information.
  • The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI)
    The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) provides organic certifiers, growers, manufacturers, and suppliers an independent review of products intended for use in certified organic production, handling, and processing.
  • The Organic Trade Association (OTA)
    Organic Trade Association (OTA) is a membership-based business association that focuses on the organic business community in North America.  OTA's mission is to promote and protect the growth of organic trade to benefit the environment, farmers, the public and the economy.
  • Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF)
    The Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) fosters the improvement and widespread adoption of organic farming practices. This is done through research related to organic farming practices, to disseminate research results to organic farmers and to growers interested in adopting organic production systems, to educate the public and decision-makers about organic farming issues.

  • The New Farm. This website provides a guide to US organic certifiers and and organic price index.
  • Northeast Organic Farmers Association (NOFA) This website provides information about organic certifiers in the New England region (except Maine)
  • Economic Research Service The Economic Research Service is a primary source of economic information and research in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Economic research aboput organic farming can be found on this page.
